My love for Siberians began in the 90's with a rescue named Kenya. We adopted her on her final day at the shelter. Kenya bounded into our home full of love, exuberance and naughtiness that quickly took over our lives. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit started our affinity with the breed.
After rescues and fosters, I purchased my first show dog. And then another, and another. I was hooked. After a year of watching and learning I decided to start showing my dogs myself. Although I have had some wonderful people work with my dogs, there was nothing like finishing my first Champion.
Over the years I started showing and training dogs for others. I love being able to form a bond and find out what it is that will make each dog tick. I want each dog to be happy and have fun. (For more information on training and show handling, click here.)
Somewhere around 2008 I met a Samoyed named Satara who stole my cheese and crackers and then my heart. Since then we have added his kids and grandkids (and others) to the Affinity family.
Although I always have other breeds in my home or traveling to shows, my first love will always be my Siberians. Each day they thrill, tease and entertain me with their 'naughty' ways.
Whether they are show dogs, obedience or agility stars or family pets....they are always family members first.
